Hawzah News Agency- Ali Fadhil al-Daffai, the official spokesman for the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, declared: "We vehemently condemn the US-Saudi aggression against Iraq and the targeting of official security forces within the Popular Mobilization Forces (al-Hashd al-Sha'bi), which has resulted in a large number of martyrs and wounded."
He expressed astonishment that this aggression took place as the Iraqi government was making serious efforts to open a new chapter in relations with the Persian Gulf states. Al-Daffai noted that the attack occurred just days after the prime minister's visit to the United States and the signing of 48 memoranda of understanding aimed at establishing an economic partnership and transitioning to a new phase of bilateral relations.
The spokesman went on to state that what transpired could be part of "Zionist-American" efforts to prevent the establishment of mutual understandings among regional countries regarding their security and economic future, free from foreign interference.
He added that the goal of this action is to prevent stability in Iraq, obstruct the reconstruction of its economy, and block the country's return to its role as a meeting point for regional nations and a positive mediator for resolving disputes and fostering understanding among governments.
Al-Daffai stressed: "We firmly believe that this aggression will not succeed in undermining the will of our security forces, the resolve of our nation, or the status and role of Iraq. All conspiracies are destined to fail in the face of the will of our great people."
He concluded by praying to God Almighty to bestow mercy upon the pure martyrs from the courageous sons of the Popular Mobilization Forces and to grant a speedy recovery to the wounded.
